Byron opened Cooper’s Corvette Center in Knoxville, TN, back in 1967, starting in a modest 4-car garage. Despite struggling to make ends meet, his vision was clear: to provide top-notch repair and customization services for Corvettes. Over time, with help from his brother Ronny, the business flourished, leading them to a larger facility where sales and repairs could combine, further solidifying their foothold within the Corvette community.
The genesis of Corvette Expo came during the early months of 1976 when Byron decided to host a Corvette show at their business location. Despite initial setbacks in finding a suitable venue, Byron's perseverance paid off when he rented The Jacob Building in Knoxville’s Chilhowee Park. The first weekend in March 1977 was a pivotal moment, as Corvette enthusiasts flocked to the expo, paying a mere $2 for general admission, marking the beginning of a legacy that’s still going strong today.
Fast forward to 2022, Corvette Expo celebrated its 45th anniversary, proudly holding the title of the longest-running Corvette event in the nation operated continuously by the same owners. This remarkable legacy took a new turn in 2023 when management transitioned to H&J Promotions, owned by Greg Harris and Steve Jenkins. These seasoned professionals have spent the last 30 years collaborating with Byron and Ronny, learning the ins and outs of the automotive show environment. With their dedication and love for cars, the baton has been passed, but the tradition of excellence continues.
Mark your calendars for the upcoming Corvette Expo from March 19-21, 2026! With an estimated attendance of over 9,000 enthusiasts, it’s a can't-miss event for car lovers.
